Since its beginning in 1922, Kimama Half Moon has only had three different owners. This has allowed for the preservation of many of the traditions and activities that make this little Summer Camp in Massachusetts one of the premier day and sleep-away camps in New England. Whether you went to this camp in the golden era, the wild 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, or any time after .com became a way of life, you can see that we have stayed very much the same.

Kimama Half Moon was purchased by the parents of the current owner/director of the camp, Gretchen Mann-Fritch, in 1967. We have been going strong ever since, with many additions and updates along the way. Up until 1994, Kimama Half Moon was an all-boys camp. Since going co-ed, we have added new activities and bunks to accommodate both boys and girls.

As you go through the photo albums through the years, you’ll see that the styles may have changed, and safety has certainly come a long way from where it used to be. Besides that, you’ll see pictures of lots of kids with smiles on their faces, hanging out with friends, and doing the activities that every healthy kid and teenager likes to do at a Traditional Northeast Summer Camp.

If you have any pictures that you would like to see on our website, please post them on We look forward to seeing many more generations from your family at Kimama Half Moon of the Berkshires!

“There’s always that one summer that changes you.”
